When the sign behind the pet store was revealed a few weeks ago (I was originally alerted by Serious Eats), everyone in the neighborhood (South Slope) was hoping the store coming in would not replace the stained glass. Then, the sign came down. Even worse, it was soon replaced with a sign reading “Get on Tapas,” which may be the worst name for a restaurant EVAR. Who, I wondered, would eat at a place with a name that stupid?

Nobody, it seems. The whole thing is apparently a set for a movie called “I Hate Valentine’s Day”, slated to begin next year. The plot, according to IMDB, revolves around a restaurant owner, presumably the owner of the unfortunately named tapas restaurant. I’m glad that the name is not real, but it’s still disappointing that the stained glass came down. We’ll see what actually replaces it soon enough, rumor has it that the liquor store on 16th St will be moving into the space.
