Brewer's Art
What do I know about Baltimore? The Wire? Even when Anthony Bourdain went to Baltimore for his “Rust Belt” show he did it around The Wire. It seems that The Wire is more famous than the city and from the one episode I saw of The Wire I should be really careful when I go. Baltimore has always been a city that I pass by on my way to somewhere else. Springfield, DC, Annapolis…and etc. Visiting Baltimore has never crossed my mind before until my ex-boss asked me to be her wedding photographer. I was honored when she asked me and then I got excited because I get to be out of town for a weekend. Okay I may have exaggerated a bit about only knowing Baltimore from The Wire, there’s also Ace of Cakes!

It’s so weird traveling by yourself. What do you do? I had spent a lot of time in the hotel room with the free HBO. Didn’t really do a lot of sightseeing nor did I venture out too far from the hotel. It helped that the hotel was RIGHT AT the Inner Harbor, tons of museums and shops for mostly tourists. I arrived at Baltimore around 8pm on a drizzling Friday night. After checking into the hotel, half of me just wanted to crash into bed while my other half wanted to go out. Damit it was only 8:45pm. I was invited by my ex-boss to go have drinks with them and their friends. I’m actually kind of shy and am always afraid of being quiet in front of people, especially people I don’t know. Took me 15mins to debate about it but finally decided to go. It was 9pm on a Friday night and I was in another city. I can’t be a frakkin’ loner. I went out and got a cab.

Momofuku Milk Bar
I believe Howard and I are the last to visit the Milk Bar. Seems like every food blog has blogged about how awesome this place is. To be honest I was just too damn lazy to go. Well we finally made it. After watching The Hurt Locker at the Sunshine theater Howard and I were looking for something else to do. I wanted to snack on something and suggested the Milk Bar.

Burger with damn good onion rings
I totally forgot about my first trip to The Ice House and the photos I took! Thanks to Howard and his post, I remember now. Yes I was quite disappointed with the onion rings when Howard, Steph and I went because as you can see from my photo and compare to his photo the rings look nothing alike.

There’s a great little bar in park slope where they blast metal, play horror movies all day, and occasionally have girls dancing on the bar. Lucky 13 is one of my favorite bars in the ares, and according to this story over at Fucked in Park Slope (sent to us by our friend Matt) they are in serious financial trouble. They’re having a benefit this Saturday, June 6th, at ten o’clock. Come on out and help save the bar! Lucky 13 is located on 13th St at 5th Ave in Brooklyn.

When Donny suggested meeting up at Eurotrip, I wasn’t too excited about it. The fact that it shares it’s name with (what I assume is) a terrible movie made me instantly suspicious of the bar, but then I noticed the menu and I knew why Donny wanted to meet there. Serving Eastern European-inspired dishes like the Langoš, or Hungarian fried bread, you see above, Eurotrip is a great restaurant and a great bar, all in one.

Midnight Music & Munchies
I’m going to start off by saying how FRAKKIN horrible this was and sorry to Howard since it was me that picked this. I’m sure I was heavily influenced by Top Chef, when the contestants had to cater a big event. I imagined each chef behind their own table serving up their munchies on proper plates with proper forks. The event being at the High Line Ballroom, there would a high ceiling with chandeliers hanging down. Crowded, yes, but everyone would be proper and polite so it would be tolerable. OOHHHH was I totally wrong!! Once Howard and I stepped into the venue I felt disgusted and my heart died. It was a total club scene, a total nightmare for me as I HATE clubs. Whatever, I was there for the food and the drinks and I paid $85 for this I might as well stay.

The Organic Tour

A farmer’s market is the best place to go if you want to buy your food locally and organically. It’s also a great place to support the farmers who grow the food. Here at Eat To Blog we are proud to announce that we are teaming up with Chef Antonio Medina from The Gastrobus to offer you a guide around farmer’s markets in Los Angeles which we call “The Organic Tour.”
