‘Snice: Brooklyn Goes Veg! Day 3
Posted by: Howard

Ok, this one is a bit of a cheat — ‘Snice in Park Slope is not actually one of the restaurants participating in Brooklyn Goes Veg! However, I think the spirit of the week is to support Brooklyn’s vegetarian restaurants. Anyway, ‘Snice had three things going for it. 1) I had just heard of the place about two weeks ago, so I was curious, 2) when going to Earth Tonez the day before I passed by ‘Snice, so I knew exactly where it was, and 3) it is within walking distance of my job, so I could go there for breakfast on the way to work.
‘Snice is set up like a regular coffee shop, with a ton of different coffees and teas — they just happen to have a vegetarian menu. I ordered a tofu-egg scramble wrap, a pumpkin raising muffin, and a hot green tea, then took a seat with the muffin and tea while I waited for the wrap. The tea was great, though the muffin was insubstantial and basically tasteless.

When the wrap arrived I was pleasantly surprised. It was full of black beans and salsa as well as a vegan egg substitute. Not great, but pretty good and very filling. ‘Snice was my least favorite of the restaurants I’ve been to this week; maybe I should have stuck to the official list. The green tea was really fantastic, so I’d go back for a hot drink on a cold day, but I’m not convinced about the food.
