Kunjip

Let’s just go straight to the point: Korean bbq! What’s not to like about Korean bbq? Though I still prefer all-you-can but this will do for now. My friend J knows every restaurant in Ktown so I trusted her when she recommended Kunjip.
There was a line out the door already when I got there at 6:07pm and the place was packed inside. We inched our way towards the door and once we got into the doorway there was about another 15 mins of waiting. While we waited the waitress took our order. J told me that the waitress said the amount of food we ordered was enough for 4 people. HAHAHAHAAA…. Here’s what we ordered: the BBQ combination (for 2) that has slices of pork, beef briskets and ox tongue. The combo also comes with a seafood tofu casserole. We also ordered a bowl of yulmoo (radish stalks) and vegetables which comes with a beef tofu casserole.
Finally we were seated and things started to come quickly. The usual side dishes came first of course. Then they placed a table top grill down. The rest of the stuff came shortly after and there was one thing I have never seen before. Instead of plain white rice Kunjip served purple rice but the taste was the same as plain rice. Finally our plate of MEAT came and the lady that brought it out also put everything on the grill. Hhmmmmm sizzling meat noises. While we waited for the meat to be done, my friend put a bowl of the purple rice into the bowl of yulmoo and vegetables, added some spicy paste and mixed.

Oh everything was so good; the yulmoo bowl mixed with rice was nice and refreshing. I would mix everything together the yulmoo, tofu stew, some purple rice and whole lotta meat. Love love love grilled meats and thanks to my friend that doesn’t like ox tongue I ate all of it! J and I are already planning our next Kunjip trip.
