This is more for me to keep track of all the trucks and carts in NY, Maryland, LA, Bay Area, Portland and Seattle. Hopefully it’ll be useful to somebody too. I have a lot of work to do in LA. Please let me know if I left out any and any trucks I should know about from other cities. So here goes…

As a FoodBuzz Featured Publisher, we are sometimes offered free products to try and to blog about. You may recall that I was not at all impressed with the first batch of free stuff we got, the Quaker True Delights granola bars. So I wasn’t sure what to expect of the chocolates we received from Recchiuti, a San Francisco based chocolatier. To my surprise the chocolates were truly amazing.

I do love breakfast all day, who doesn’t? This was probably one of the best food find during my trip in SF. I do love it when it’s a result of spontaneity. My friends wanted to walk their dogs to the park near our rented apartment. While walking we happened to walk by Eddie’s Cafe. It’s a small diner at the corner of the street and on the outside in red letters “breakfast all day”. I knew then I wanted to eat there before leaving SF.

I wasn’t in San Francisco for very long, but I had a lot of different food. I had some great vegan food, I had the worst pizza I’ve ever eaten in my life, and I had the food you see above, from Eddie’s Cafe. Eddie’s bills itself as a Southern restaurant in the heart of San Francisco, and I have to say after eating there that they live up to the promise. Perhaps the best part of my meal at Eddie’s was watching the older folks who spoke like old blues men shuffling in and ordering their food. It lent an air of authenticity to the experience.
The other thing that was remarkable about Eddie’s was the speed of service. These days you don’t see real short order cooks; breakfast places like IHOP or Denny’s act the part, but they aren’t the real deal. At Eddie’s the eggs and grits I ordered came out in just a couple of minutes, and they were good. Even better were the homemade biscuits that came with them. Warm and slightly sweet, they were perfect with a little butter and jam.
For a place that serves breakfast all day, Eddie’s isn’t open early enough — not until 9am on Sundays — but it’s worth seeking out if you’re looking for a good, quick breakfast in San Francisco.
