I just came back from a 2 week time off in LA and it was FREAKING wonderful. Though it wasn’t all play. The first week I spent it with these guys (yes I was doing work) and the second week was a total tv on the couch time.
Besides eating burgers from In-N-Out and mom’s cooking, most of the meals I had were from places I have never been before. Luckily everything I ate during my 2 weeks in LA was mighty delicious.

Is 160 Havemeyer St in south Williamsburg the foodiest address? There’s already Nha Toi, a Vietnamese joint serving not-so-traditional food like a fried duck egg banh mi. I still haven’t been but from what James Boo said, I should’ve gone asap 2 years ago.
So why do I think 160 Havemeywer is the foodiest address? Well both newly opened Lake Trout and Blue Collar Good Job also have the same address.

It felt like it was meant to be, for me to meet Sarah Simmons the “Home Cook Superstar Winner.” Well not just because I like to eat or that Sarah runs the fantastic City Grit, a Culinary Salon, but because we just have too many mutual friends. She’s friends with a lot of grad school friends I know and an old coworker.
Though it wasn’t until last week, when I finally went to my first ever City Grit dinner. That night the theme was dim sum where Sarah came up with 7 dishes that combined Asian flavors and techniques with her Southern roots. All I can say about that dinner was, everything tasted fantastic and really inspired to play with my food more. The only sort of combining of foods that I ever did was my miso cream pasta, which I’m still surprised it came out pretty damn good.

As I’m typing this I’m sitting on my bed in the fine fine Ace Hotel in Seattle sipping my free Stumptown coffee. OMG they have a self-served waffle machine also. Yeah sorry NY but I just had to take a break from you. Though I am kind of sad to have missed the snow storm. Suppose to rain in Seattle all week, boo. Anyways enough about Seattle.

Seriously am I the last one to blog about this place? I have no idea how much I don’t know about the city that I call home home until I started to call another city my home. Everytime I go back to LA Mo would tell me to go eat at Zankou Chicken. He’s a big fan and so are a lot of the food bloggers that had been to Zankou Chicken.
My friend, Sandy, and I were actually hunting down taco trucks. We were on Colorado Blvd looking for tacos but instead we found Zankou Chicken. I quickly told her to turn around because I had to try it. It was probably not the best thing to do while on the hunt for tacos but I wasn’t sure when I’ll get a chance like that again.
We walked into a not-so-fancy looking place but it sure damn smelled great. Sandy and I decided to just share a 1/4 chicken platter for $6.99 that came with a piece of chicken, hummus, salad and 2 pitas. I stabbed the chicken with the fork and took a bite. The chicken was super tender, flavorful and the skin was crispy. The 2 sides and the pitas were all pretty good too. I can see why people love it. The chicken was so so good, I can eat just the skin forever.
