Easy Stovetop Popcorn

Stove Top Popcorn from Eat to Blog on Vimeo.

Please enjoy our very first video post! Making popcorn on the stove top is ridiculously easy, as I rediscovered when our friend Mo made some for me the other day. The hardest part about this recipe was finding the actual popcorn kernels at my local market — there were tons of microwave popcorn boxes, but I had to ask for help finding plain old kernels.

This video features the most basic recipe, but you can customize it as you like. Cook the popcorn in olive oil and then finish with some grated parmesan cheese. Or season the kernels with chile powder and finish with some lime juice and grated queso fresco. Or season with curry powder. Or… well, I think you get the picture. Other bonuses: no burnt popcorn smell, and hardly any un-popped kernels.

And please, take the time to subscribe to our videos on Vimeo! Hopefully we’ll make more of these things.

Thanks for this great tutorial! Using the glass lid was a genius move.

This glass lid reminds me of that on my rice cooker. I wonder if I could pop corn in the rice cooker. Genius or crazy?

@Stacey – yeah, the glass lid makes it a lot of fun. you could probably make popcorn in the rice cooker, but it would be harder to regulate the temperature. let me know how it goes!
