Holiday Market Watch: Pickles

Last weekend I was alerted by Serious Eats to a holiday market over on 5th Ave and 4th St. here in Brooklyn. To my surprise the market was nothing more than two booths set up on a street corner — one run by Dickson’s Farmstand selling meats, the other selling Horman’s Best Pickles. So I bought some pickles, $4 for a small mix of pickles in a plastic tub. The kosher dill was nothing to write home about, but the new pickle was one of the best I’ve ever eaten. They were also selling tubs of messy looking honey mustard pickles, which I was not brave enough to sample.
